February 23 2021
Revised April 1 2021

To our valued Verity subscribers,

First and foremost, we wish all of you a happy, healthy, safe 2021!

Our team has been working day-in and day-out to provide the most state-of-the-art and impactful brand safety, suitability, and contextual intelligence solution in Advertising, and with 2021 well underway, we are excited to take an opportunity to share some Verity highlights with you.

We also want to introduce our new documentation portal, the Verity Documentation Center, where you’ll find integration procedures, API reference, taxonomy details, FAQs, methodology descriptions and of course product updates!

New Features

Verity includes these new features:

Custom Content Segments

Custom Segments gather data about the content you want to target in selected contextual segments. Perhaps you want to carve out inventory to match timely criteria, such as articles on snowsports that avoid avalanche news coverage. You could use this data to track inventory for each custom segment in your environment, or bulk publish/unpublish content as needed.

To define a Custom Segment, you'll complete the Google Docs Custom Segment Request form and add the criteria to include or exclude, including:

  • IAB v2 categories

  • Keywords

  • Threat categories

  • Sentiment

Example Custom Segment Form

Once Verity activates the segment and detects a matching page, the page report will include the segment name, for example:

“segments”: [ { “id”: “cec034e2-6fb5-416e-b3b5-6cbb7cbc6e31”, “name”: “snowsports”}]

For detailed steps, refer to Set up a Custom Segment.

Contextual Video Analysis

In the second half of 2020, we partnered with IRIS.TV and JW Player respectively to offer Verity Video Analysis in the rapidly growing Contextual Video Marketplace, which brings together publishers, contextual data partners, ad servers, and SSPs to package video content within brand-safe and suitable segments for advertisers.

To learn more about how you can leverage Verity’s powerful classifiers to get detailed brand safety and contextual data for your video content, go to Video Analysis.

Upcoming Features

  • Additional Language Support (Spanish and French).
    Target release: July 2021

Change Notification

GumGum Events Classification will be phased out in favor of Custom Segments, expanding support to any number of events, large or small!

Date of deprecation is April 1, 2021.

The change to Verity functionality is minor and will have little impact on existing partners.

The Events field will continue to be returned in the JSON report, but no values will be reported.
