YouTube is regarded as a “1st party platform,” whereas GumGum is an "independent ad tech provider."

YouTube owns the platform/network that hosts their content and operates as a walled garden. Twitter, Facebook, Google, Amazon, TikTok are also considered to be “1st party platforms.”

Companies such as IAS, DoubleVerify and Oracle are considered to be independent ad tech providers, similar to GumGum.
